Just curious. Has any classical guitarist ever tried performing or recording Beethoven's Violin Concerto on guitar? If so, how did it come across?

The original version is heavenly; the piano version is mildly enjoyable; and now somebody has got a version of it on *clarinet*. It actually came out last year, but Universal in their infinite wisdom carried over by the Polygram idiots deliberately delayed its stateside release for a year so as to phony up the books, I suppose. When will Jean-Pierre Messier fire the incompetents who are sabotaging his business?)

I haven't found any recordings, but there is at least one arrangement published:

TITLE: Concerto in D for guitar and orchestra: op. 61 / L.V. Beethoven ; arranged for guitar by Kazuhito Yamashita PUBLISHER: Tokyo, Japan: Gendai Guitar Co., 1982

Kazuhito Yamashita recorded it for RCA in the eighties. He also recorded From The New World for solo guitar. I saw the Beethoven concerto on CD in 1989 but never acquired it. Auctions or second-hand shops probably are the only ways to find it today.
