Sounds like a repeat of the big Estates of Bonnie and Clyde vs Georgie Fame lawsuit.

Actually, I believe there's a long tradition of singing about the famous and infamous. I don't think they've made it illegal as of yet.

Long time Gone, by the Dixies, written by Darrel Scott refers to many of the great (and not so great according to Darrel) country arists.. Haggard, Cash, H Willams and Hank Jr etc., (I didn't like the smudge on Jr).

You know, I've met Darrel a couple times, very nice guy with a great reputation. I'm surprised he wrote that line and even more surprised there wasn't some kind of backlash or that the label didn't have a problem with it. It doesn't sit to well in Nashville when you put artists down like that, I'd never put someone down in a song, I think he could have made his point without that line, an otherwise great kicking country song.

'They got junior but they don't have Hank'

I don't see any smudge in that.

He's implying Hank Jr. is what's wrong with country/pop/commercial music, that Hank Sr, was authentic and Jr. is not.

No, I don't understand it that way. junior being written in small letters. i think it's just a pun, like tired/Haggard money/Cash. Maybe not the best one.

Implied smudge, since Bocephus is Hank, Jr. I think he has a lot of his father in him.

Don't mess with Hank! He's my man!
