Yes, definitely a sad day I think I'm gonna pull out the guitar and play 'Here Comes The Sun'.

There was a quote from someone today that went something along the lines of ' part of the fabric of our culture has been torn away and can never be replaced '

I was only 14 when John died, I didn't really get how much that meant to people at the time, now I do.

'part of the fabric of our culture'

I don't know, a little over the top. Maybe as a collective, or a stitch in the fabric.

and as far as 'when John died. how much that meant to people at the time, now I do'

I think that was a whole differrent deal. Generation was younger, Lennon was much younger, we weren't all that familiar with inevitability of death, our vulnerability, and it was murder. The fact that someone would actually go out of there way to kill him, was something that shocked us all. It made us realize just how sick this world really is. The irony of it all, a man who sang Give Peace A Chance, murdered. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/music/ newsid_1492000/1....

He will be sorely missed in this earthly trail of tears, but as George said so well in a song once: 'All things must pass, all things must pass away..'

Seems fitting that All Things Must Pass was the last song he ever performed live during a VH1 interview. George the calm and reserved Beatle was in many ways the spirit and soul of that group. Later when he made his first solo album he had such a back-log of tunes it took three LPs to put it all in there and is still one of my favorite records.

Well, God bless George and good sojourn, and thanks for the wealth of great music you left us. When you see John tell him we all miss him too. Sadly, it looks like we are half way to getting The Beatles back together.

A friend of mine picked me up today and we drove over to where the Beatles star is on the walk of fame here in Hollywood ( it's at Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue ). She had laminated a photo of George from herself and a photo of George w/ the other Beatles that had a wonderful little poem on it from a friend. There were probably 75 to 100 people there. There were bouquets of flowers, photos, today's L.A. Times and lots of candles. There was a group of people from Bangladesh wh came w/ a bouquet and a huge sign thanking him for what he had done. Someone had a guitar and everyone was singing Beatles songs. The sky was gray but in front of the Beatles star it looked like a kalidescopic rainbow of color. Cid

God Bless America!

I remember I was watching Channel 9 in Columbus, GA because I liked Mitzi Oxford who did the weather. Strange coincidence but I later saw her working on a Nashville TV station. Her husband was a soldier or something who went from Ft. Benning to Ft. Campbell. Anyhow, the anchor came on and said there is a report that John had been shot. That's about all they said. That was before CNN I think. Long before Internet. Don't think I heard anymore till the next day.

The first thought I had came from one of my favorite Lennon/Beatle tunes....'The way things are going...they're gonna crucify me.' I used to put up this thing at work called Food For Thought where I would put adages (man, I used to love words!) and I put the line up for that day. A little later my boss walked by and said got mad at me for something. As a defense, I said, 'Well, John Lennon was killed.' That satisfied my boss and we survived to fight another day.
