Forgive me if this is not the appropiate NG for this, but I figured I would find some thoughtful answers here.

After thirty five years playing the guitar, I took the plunge- My cello should arrive by April First. (No comments required)

Anyone who plays, here are some questions:

I picked up two mutes. One is a wire frame that has tubing and brass weights. It appears the wire would tend to chew up the bridge, it is very stiff. Do these mutes do damage?

I also saw some rubber mutes, some with two holes, some with one. Is there more sound dampening from one hole or two?

Thanks in advace, if there is a more appropiate group for these kinds of questions, let me know...

Mike

'Anti-wolf'? Are cellos in danger of attack by wolves? (;-D) (Obviously, I'm NOT a string person - not even an instrumentalist.)

Please feel welcome to look in on the Internet Cello Society. The address is: www.cello.org

There is quite a bit of cello information there as well as a number of interesting 'chat' boards. Please stop by and, good luck with your new endeavor.
