I have been offered a Gibson accoustic (normal steelstring - not electrics), allegedly from 1965, for £600. The guitar sounds pretty amazing to my ears, and feels really good. The machine heads are not original, and need replaced (as they are crap). The guitar is solid mahogany (allegedly). How do I validate the sellers claims - where do I find more info re Gibson accoustics from this era? How does the price sound to you guys?

Hi KJ

Sounds like a reasonable price, if the guitar is in a good condition. To verify its authenticity you could pop in to a local luthier and get him to check it out for repairs, damage etc.

Truly wonderful instruments...just buy it.
