I have been trying for a long time to identify a piece of music I heard on All Things Considered yesterday. The music was at the end of the story on special education but isn't identified on their web site.

If you listen to the RealAudio version of the story you will hear about 11 seconds of the music starting 7:12 into the story. It can be found at http://www.npr.org/ramfiles/atc/20001129.atc.1 6.rmm

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like a very generic Glass/Reich-like commercial music. Why don't you write to NPR and ask?

This music was used a lot on the PRI (not NPR!) program This American Life. According to http://www.thislife.org/pages/store.html it's something called 'Perpetuum mobile' by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. (It is also probably off-topic for r.m.c.)

For future ref, NPR has a number you can call to ask what music they use. Apparently when you call the number, they try to get you to buy the CD through them, but there's no obligation, I assume (I've never called).
