... you've been planning it for a while, got a replacement lined up.

Then he (the soon-to-be-sacked one) goes off and spends hundreds on a brand new kit!

Best 'Agony Aunt' answers, please?

Just sack him, it won't matter because he'll have no problem finding a better band Akeel

telll him the band are splitting up, then reform under the same name, possibly with a different spelling and a new drummer. being a drummer, he'll probably just think somebodys started up a tribute band.si

If only... but he only lives a few miles from me; also he has a 200GBP stake in the p.a. system.

Then he's not an employee, he's a partner, and you're stuck with him.

The only way to get him out now is to make life for him in the band so unpleasant he'll want to leave.

Ever tried to upset a drummer?

Be careful, they can turn nasty, and they're all very strong.

You're the flash guitarist...

Try hitting on his girl...

He's a drummer, thus can't use a computer.

Ask him to play with a click track - you won't see him for dust!

Just like you'd sack anyone else.

If you've treated him fairly then he'll know there's been a problem, he'll appreciate why you've finally chosen to replace him and it shouldn't be difficult for you to deliver or him to accept.

If you haven't then you've given yourself a problem and you'll have to face up to it.

As for the click track idea .... most bands I've witnessed would be less at least one guitarist, bass player and singer for a start off ... but for some reason the drummer always gets the blame for everyone else's amateur time keeping!

Cheers, Steve W
