Hi, I am trying to figure out how to play those solos often found in rock and metal music where the guitar really screams/squeals I can't seem to make it happen, anyone know what I'm talking about and how to achieve it?

It's no good, I have read a few different explanations on how to perform this technique and have been twanging away for hours now, I just can't do it. I need to hear an example in an actual song so that I know it's what I am trying to do. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me the name of your favourite guitarist, I need a band name and a song that I can get hold of. This is really bugging me now it's so difficult!

Anything by Zak Wilde or (possibly, not got anything to hand) Randy Rhodes both of them use pinch harmonics loads...

Its a weird thing, once you know how to do it, you can't help doing it. You needs loads of gain to make it easier.
