Some of you might have noticed that while on my old song. 'Black Lung Suicide' there were 8 lines of lyrics and 11 guitar solos, on my new song 'Sober and Celibate' there are 12 lines of lyrics and only 8 guitar solos. This shows a progression in my music towards playing more for the song. This raises the question of course, is this a step in the right direction?

See if can find a good version of John Cage's 4 minutes 33 seconds.

That would be the best direction to take at this stage IMHO.

A while ago, you wrote that commercial success depended on the number of guitar solos ( or was it the length of...? ), and argued that more was better than few.

Have you changed your mind, or isn't commercial success the goal anymore?

My music consists of nothing but guitar solos, but I hardly think the 130 plays to date on www.mp3.com/jalluhm can be described as commercial success

More are definitely better. Who needs quality when you can have QUANTITY!

No, I just though I'd experiment by having a song with only 8 guitar solos. It's called minimalism!

Maybe you should add some growled vocals.

Jarl, could you tell me a bit more about how your songs came to be on ampcast.com? Do they charge you a fee to house your mp3's, etc.. You can just email me directly if you prefer. Thank you;

I joined ampcast in March of 2001 after mp3.com changed its policy stating that only Premium Artists who pay $19.99 a month will be paid artist royalties. Contrary to the claims a certain Chris Johnson of rec.audio.pro has made, I did not get kicked off of mp3.com. I still have an account there; You can visit my site http://www.mp3.com/JarlSigurd and listen to my cello concerto that is posted there.

They didn't when I joined. They later introduced one. It currently stands at $50 a year but is set to go up to $75 at the beginning of 2002.
