(posted this through another service, but I didn't see it show up in RMMS, so I'm re-posting here. Apologies for any duplication.)
The first part doesn't seem to work as well as the second half, but this part is just incredible, in my opinion:
'sitting here like a christ and I'm sweating blood to stone tending my garden of souls and I'm feeling alone in my bones and I know you've had enough but would you just take this cup from me?'
The only thing that catches me up a bit is the 'a' in 'like a Christ', maybe a few too many 'and's, and it seems like it should be 'blood on stone' instead of 'blood to stone' (which sounds a little like the blood is turning to stone).
Ignore my nitpicks - I think this portion is very, very beautiful with no changes at all. I was struck by the way it builds from beginning to end, the connection of each line to the next, the great internal rhymes and near rhymes, and the overall expression. Powerful!
