For all of you that have been clamouring for the lyrics to my newest song 'Bottomless Pit' which is posted at http://www.ampcast.com/search/band.php?id=9098 you'll be thrilled to know that your prayers have been answered. Here they are:

Bottomless Pit

Just dangle the bait, I'll surely bite. My debts they grow heavy, my wallet grows light. Plummetting downwards, no end in sight A bottomless pit, as black as night

Behind barred glass, dangles the bait, a predatory urge, that just can't wait, not to be put off to some future date, I must have it now, before it's too late!!

My world it grows smaller, shortage of space. Yet still my heart pines, for changes of pace. Lobsided trades, obsolescence replace. Yesterday's treasures, gone without trace!

Somehow I can't, let money sit. Into my wallet, cash just won't fit. Like an addiction, I just can't quit. Plummetting downwards, into a bottomless pit!!!

So, can anyone of you decipher what this song is really about. I eagerly await your answers.

Jarl Sigurd

[snip] : you'll be thrilled to know that your prayers have been : answered. Here they are:

: Bottomless Pit

: Just dangle the bait, I'll surely bite. : My debts they grow heavy, my wallet grows light. : Plummetting downwards, no end in sight : A bottomless pit, as black as night

This sounds like Berkshire Record Outlet's web site and the buying frenzy there engendered.

Analogous surely to the album 'Sergeant Rutter's Only Darts Club Band' by the Rutles, where if you reverse the title, you apparently find its hidden meaning 'Dirk has been dead for ages, really'.

I am sure the genre does not work for me, but you know there are still intersting chord progressions, a decent 'hammond'? organ, and lyrics that rhyme relentlessly. What's the song about? I guess it the sad and very theatrical story of some poor slob who can't manage money. You know this is weird music. Does the genre have a name?

Too easy - this one is autobiographical about a pompous prick poster.

The 'bottomless pit' is, of course, the net, and our pompous prick poster anti-hero keeps throwing time and effort (but not talent) onto the net, but nothing surfaces.

'The world growing smaller' refers to the less and less people prepared to take our anti-hero seriously, until one day, our hero takes himself by the hand and jumps into the bottomless pit head first, instead of the usual feet first, when all and sundry shout, 'Hooray' and erect a virtual tombstone marked 'Here lies Jarl Sigard, Nobody knew him. Well?'.

Because of Jarl Sigard's errant self-esteem and tendency to cross post this has also been cross posted - for which I duly apologise - some of us know our place.

Richard,

<funny and true respond snipped>

Doing some writing today, are we? You should be writing a lyric instead, it would turn out great Made me smile anyway.

Cheers,
