I'd very much like to put together an outdoor performance of Mozart's Serenade for 13, K361 for a summer party. However, the two basset-horn parts provide an obvious stumbling block. Is it possible to arrange/find arrangements of the work for 4 clarinets (rather than 2+2 b.h.s)? And how much would the piece lose in such an arrangement?

All advice would be gratefully accepted.

Steven, In 1995, I played K 361 with 4 clarinets. It actually sounded pretty good, although we missed the unique sound af the bassetts. I don't remember the edition, but I do remember that there were alternative clarinet parts AND bassett parts included with the set of parts. I think it was one of the major publishers, such as Breitkopf or Barenreiter. Ask a good music store, it should be easy to find. Good luck, and remember not to take the last movement too fast.
