Excellent quotes Johnny. It would seem that they apply in the 2lst Century as much as they did to Brahms and Bruckner in the 19th Century.

If an ensemble makes a musician 'sound all right', is this because of the composition or because of the polished performance? I bet the NY Philharmonic can make any poor composition 'sound all right', at least to those who don't know any better (most people).

Somehow I'm inclined to doubt that you did actually listen to it. It's very easy for a critic to write a commentary on someone else work without having bothered to listen to it, if he has heard enough of other people's critticisms. The thing that gives you away is the remark 'I hear more imitarion than I do originality.' Really? Whose work am I imitating? Am I imitating Brahms? Lizst? Choppin? Rachmininov, Jerry Lee Lewis? All my other critics are criticisizing me for not listening to enough piano, yet you hear imitation in my work? Of whom, praytell?

More apropos in this context, perhaps, is

'They laughed at Copernicus. They laughed at Galileo. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.' - Carl Sagan.

But didn't Bozo the Clown earn more money than Carl Sagan did?

And how much money have you earned from your compositions so far?

You know, when I was younger, I used to buy these games in game stores. But the proprietor wouldn't let me open the boxes, so I had a hard time judging whether or not I was going to like this or that particular game. I developed a great skill at being able to tell what was in a box by just looking at it carefully.

Now, I did once go to your website and seen the way you describe your pieces. I have read much of this ridiculous but somewhat amusing discussion. I haven't heard a note of your music and I never will.
