Hello,

This is the first time I've posted to your newsgroup. I was hoping someone could identify a song for me. Hope this is an appropriate request to make. If not, forgive my error.

When I was a little girl, I watched this one segment on 'Sesame Street' which featured a dew-kissed rose blooming. I'm interested in finding out what the segment's accompanying music was. The melody was played on guitar. The tempo was slow, perhaps an air. I think the piece is from the Baroque era. Here is my attempt at writing part of the melody in sixteenth notes with a dash (-) representing a sixteenth note hold:

Sounds like it might be the Largo movement from Vivaldi's Concerto in D for Four Guitars, RV93.

It *looks* like it might be the 'Merry Widow Waltz' from Franz Lehar's *Lustige Witwe*.

Make that Concerto in D for (one) Guitar and Orchestra, RV93. (There is also at least one arrangement for 4 guitars, no orchestra.)

Thank you all very much for helping to identify the composition. Vivaldi's Concerto in D Major for Guitar is the music I've been looking for

Thanks again!

Welcome Belinda! I think it is an appropriate request, yes. But I'm afraid I was not able to identify the song. Tell me if I understood correctly: the notes that come before the dashes are three times slower than the other notes? Maybe you could give us some more information about the music, if you have it. You don't? OK, just asking Hope to hear from you soon,

Marco

Belinda - I remember that Sesame Street segment too! It's the slow movement from Vivaldi's concerto for two mandolins.

Cheers
