The stats for the second day are now in at soundclick, and though there is some discrepancy in the numbers, and the number of downloads was on target (i.e. zero), I'm going to have to concede that this song was basically a failure. So I've put up the midi, now cursed and utterly odious to my sight, on my geocities page below for anyone who wants to play around with it, and also a 160 kbps version for those who would prefer mp3, since the quality of the 128 kbps version certainly left something to be desired, especially with respect to the sax.

Well, obviously tc doesn't stand for three chords. I have download the midi and played with it a little as is my wont.
Plus points : those chords, I've been listening to the piece without the melody, they really good, sir C. The drums would have been better left off altogether, how can somebody with so much musical understanding leave a drum track like that? Having said that, I have been adding and changing the drums around, but I have an excuse - LOL
The melody could have done with a lift somewhere, the arrangement does it just dandy, but for some reason not the melody.
There is something about the first chord that I don't like, can't explain it, but I am working on it )
Thanks for a good piece of work to keep me amused this hot Sunday.

Thank you for the very fine compliment, which couldn't have come at a better time, as I was pondering suicide rather than accept the possibility that this song would be my first one to get a zero response since I can even remember (I think that honor would go to my version of Danny Taddei's 'Newsreader Blues' . Yes, I do think the chord work was a notch above my average, which is why I was so disappointed with the poor response. Sorry about the drums, I'll consider using a drum loop next time. And, of course, if you have any more ideas for improving this song, please let me

Ello,
Some absolutely lovely dischords in here. There's a little run of them which I couldn't even begin to decipher, it makes up one of the oddest cadences I've heard in a long time. Melody doesn't quite come across but I think that could be a midi thing, melodies are very difficult to reproduce without a human being to sing or play them IMO. All the same, this is very good. I like the bridgey bit particularly.
Have you ever thought about getting hold of some orchestral type samples for this stuff. I think your music would come on in leaps and bounds if you had some more realistic sounds to work with. Just a thought.

I've got the midi in front of me and I haven't even tried to work out the chords - I know when I am beat.
I also agree regarding the realistic sounds, or alternatively, at the risk of offending many RMMSers, including me <g>, take this stuff to the people who can 'hear' the music just by reading the score.
I would also be intriqued to know the way Sir Casio works.

If is possible to damn with faint praise, then conversely I am becoming faint from the damn praise. Inasmuch as my intention in these songs, or rather sketches, is to transmit the bare rudiments of melody and harmony, it is extremely gratifying to get any feedback whatsoever on them, not to mention those of a positive nature, particularly from those whose opinions (and musical tastes <g> I hold in such high esteem.
And as for knowing the way I work, you'll have to buy the book.

Thanks again, Honcho. I think I've lost all objectivity on this song (and apparently the rights to it as well <g> , but by all means would urge you, in your labor on this song to the glory of my name, to 'stick to it - nothing like hard work' (Gondoliers). I particularly liked the marimba (?) intro, and the sax at the bridge. I'd also like to collaborate on my next song with you - reply by email if interested.

Firstly you haven't lost any rights at all - your song your ideas, all yours, all I have done is add a little on the percussion side and changed the the fonts around. George Martin might have done more and still got no credit
I agree entirely on your instrument choices, the vibes and sax, I was thinking of changing the other 2 but... it was your choice,.
Pls. send me anything you think I can help with - I've offered before you know! I shall be away and/or quite busy for the next month, but I try and keep in touch.
