Jim, thanks for writing me and asking me to respond to the newsgroup, which I hope this, in some way, explains my posts regarding my opera 'Shakespeare' and my dogged attempt to promote Wagner's masterpieces.
I answer much of my e-mail, regular mail,FAXes and telephione calls ASAP.
If I replied to all the inquiries, then I would have insufficient time to progress with my own career.
As to my opera, it is no dilettante venture.
I completed the opera in 1984, but am continually adding and revising it with the intention of making even more accessible, that most revered. and already most accessible Shakespeare.
If one can sing it, one can memorize it and retain it.
I am a professional singer who spends time counseling others. I do it for the income and for the value in carrying on the traditions.
I may have to change course, not give out my telephone numbers if the burden becomes too unremitting.
My emphasis on Wagner and Shakespeare is evangelical in Wagner's case and appreciative in Shakespeare's case. Practically nobody will dissent from the hogh estimation of Shakespeare, but not that many have high opinions on Wagner's ouevre.
If I have bored any of you, please forgive me.

Did you happen to see the movie 'Joe Gould's Secret?' I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Lane's opera is something along the lines of Gould's 'History of the World.' Endlessly revised, much talked about (by its author, mainly), and never to be seen. And, calling Shakespeare a 'hogh?' What a rotten swineh!

I dunno ... booking Carnegie Hall is a fairly expensive enterprise, so there must be *something* there; though at the event I went to in October, he did say he would sing, and he didn't.

NB the recordings he played of his singing 40 years ago and fairly recently were not bad (though the engineering of the latter was quite
