Having recently acquired an Irish bouzouki, I'm looking for recommendations for some sort of cheap pickup for it. I need something that can be moved from instrument to instrument fairly easily as I'll also want to use it on a mandolin and possibly a fiddle. Obviously I'm not expecting to get great sound quality, I just want to record some stuff so I can see just how inept I really am.

Hi Andy,
I use a stick on contact mic on my mandolin and with a bit of EQ its very passable. I've a recording made on my PC using this arrangement which you can have a copy of if you are interested. The mic cost me around £15. At that price I imagine you could consider one for each instrument? I actually modified my mandonlin - I installed a 1/4 inch jack socket. I'd have thought twice if it was a posh instrument but as it was it turned out pretty well.
Best of luck, Steve W
