Songwriters competition at Maryhill Winery

Hi all. Those of you who remember me might also remember that a few months ago I mentioned that I had entered a songwriter's competition at Maryhill Winery in the Columbia River Gorge. I just got back tonight from the gig. Of the 40 semi-finalists, I placed 5th, won $100 (amost exactly what I spent on wine there), and got to play a half-hour set in their new 3,000 seat amphitheater. Had an absolutely (if somewhat nerve-wracking) great time. It was a mind-blowing experience to hear my music over a huge top-notch PA. I sounded so good I told my wife they must have been using auto-tune on my vocals. 'No,' she said, 'You were off in a couple of places, but sounded pretty good otherwise.' I can always count on her to bring me back to earth. The audience liked my songs 'The Bottle and I' and 'Joey's Not Here' (a Ramones tribute), but the smash hit of the whole competition was 'Camel Toes.' People actually stopped me on the street in The Dalles and said 'Hey, you're the Camel Toes guy!' For one brief, exciting moment I felt like a pop star.
