Normally, when I pick up my Telecaster from it's resting place by my PC and give it a quick strum <snigger> the tuning is pretty solid. Never more than the odd tweak required.

Tonight the whole thing was waaay out of tune.

Damn this summer heat...*

Cheers

*Not really. I do like the novelty of seeing a break in the clouds, honest.

That was a very good reply, and so accurate. I have found a problem with the panasonic type batteies you get from £1 shops when i boil the kettle.

You realise this is all propaganda put about by the capitalists, don't you? Scientific tests have proven that's it's the N-S orientation of the *guitar* that does this, not, as the vendors of matched pairs would have you believe, the batteries. The only way the batteries influence the sound is when they're vertical, which is pretty unusual anyway.

Sheesh! I thought everyone knew this nowadays!

Interesting thing about a Tele, had someone pose this question on one of the other newsgroups, name 10 heavy rock/metal guitarists that use Tele's (unmodified) live on stage as it were? they couldnt come up with more than 2, and 1 of those was a 'c' list nobody. Any takers?? 1 .Page 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

Sorry, but I said this montsh ago, nowadays it is impossible to get real 010-sets in Norway, due to New Labour, they all feel like 009's.

Used to play a regular gig outside Edinburgh where the owner refused to switch the hall heating on for the soundcheck and would wait until the punters were in and we were about to start playing. The twin-neck was fun . . .

I'd take them out of the kettle then. It makes the coffee taste

Ah, but vertical in respect to what? It all depends where the battery was manufactured, as the casing perms up with the earths magnetic field, and so causes serious fluctuations if it's more than 30 degrees out of phase with the local field readings. It costs you money too.

I've just had remarkable fun with electric 12 tuning thanks to the humidity in the Eigelstein Torburg where our jazz gig was. Mind you, that was nothing to the problems the saxophones had...
