Anthony Tommasini, classical music critic of The New York Times, discusses the heritage of bel canto opera using the piano to demonstrate his points.

I found this to be riveting, and I was also happy to see that the man knew music from the inside out, making his writing all the more relevant.

Anyway, I just thought I would share.
