Here's a question for the UK readers - can anyone remember the TV series 'Ever Decreasing Circles' with Richard Briars and Penelope Wilton ? What was the piece of piano music that went with the credits? Shostokovich? It was first shown in the 80's I think, and was a great comic statement on life in the suburbs.

The music is by Shostakovich. It's No. 15 of the 24 Preludes, Op. 34. It lasts for less than a minute, at least on the recording I have, so was ideal for the purpose.

Ever Decreasing Circles was the thinking person's suburban sitcom. It's difficult to imagine anyone asking about the theme music for Terry and June in here.
