In what way, may I ask? Sad music in general? Just choral or also instrumental? Big sound or a small ensemble?

Well, probably I'll say a great nonsense but due to spacionusness signifier of 'similar' word I'll propose a Requiem that IMO it renmind the Mozart's. Only up to point. I refer to Franz-Josef Krafft (1727-1795) Requiem. He studiet composition under Durante, in Italy, but he settled in Ghent (Gent, Gand, close Bruxelles) and compose the Requiem for the funeral services of the sisters of the Great Beguine Convent in Louvain. I now that don't possess de rare emotional depth and grandeur that Mozart's but have some similarities in the choral treatment of the voices and in the melodic style, in despite that Mozart was 25 years old than Krafft and the difference of genius. Whit a simple support orchetration, organ, gamba and bass, that is the first distinguishing, some of this work remind me that Mozart's one. Perhaps this words they are a sacrilege for the Mozart music lovers, I apologize for my opinion and repeat: Only up to point. In the french ORION (Pierre Verany) label it has recorded of this Requiem.

Respectfully

Buenaventura - BCN Please, excuse my poor english.

Well, Haydn's _The Seasons_ is very similar to the Requiem, in the sense that the theme of one fugato section is stolen directly from the Mozart. It can come as quite a shock if you're not expecting it

The Missa's in D major (as much as this work is in a central key of some kind). We don't want the original poster fooled into thinking it's in the same key as the Mozart Requiem now, do we.

I would like to hear other pieces by Mozart if they exist. Some have said he has similar church pieces.

What I mean by similar is the same power, the high and low of the music. It's forceful in a way and not very relaxed. It seems to get very excited and then come down only to grow very loud. I like the voices in it.

Hope that helps.
