hi everybody. I found some vey nice stuff on Napster (Carlos Kleiber conducting LvB' fourth; Celibidache rehearsaling the fourth of Brahms), and also on alt.binaries.sound.music.classical (Boulez conducting the first of Mahler). Now I would like to know if there exist some other place I miss and that you suggest to visit (may by some new peer-to-peer-like-Napster, I heard about Gnutella). thans in advance lorenzo PS: I write from Milano; in 3 hours I'll see the Falstaff with Muti and the direction of Strehler. I have already seen several times during the past years, but it is always bellissimo.

For all the trouble... you could go to the store or order some CD's... but I suppose you like spending hours hunting down shitty-sounding mp3's, just to supposedly save a buck. yay, let's just make Classical even more of a niche product by making it unprofitable to release recordings... that's the ticket.

We toured like maniacs and released six albums, and from time to time we had some of our songs played on the radio. We never fit in too well in the rock world, but many people were kind enough or not conspicuously cool enough to worry about such things

No offense, but while trying to cheat the record company you also cheat the recording artists.

You're being bad again, Knudsen.

I got all but 43 of Scarlatti's 555 sonatas off my phoneline (probably only because it was becoming so complicated keeping track of performer/sonata that I eventually gave up).

I think a complete set is still being offered, but anyway, these are from many performers, over many decades. I did buy the Browning CD as a result of my samplings and I am considering buying the big set by Ross, but I don't really agree with some of his interpretations.

How long would it take to perform all 555 Sonatas? By my calculator I came up with a figure of 37 or so hours...assuming each sonata to be about 4 minutes in length on average.
