Wasn't Robbie the name of Bob Marley's bass player. His life would probably make an interesting topic for an opera.

Jarl Sigurd

is in effect a clever virus which is triggered by the words Heldentenor, Wagner and Furtwangler., The instigator is still being sought but suspicion mounts that it may be Matthew B Tepper. The middle initial gives it away. John Carter Barsoom

I really thought that 'Ken B. Lane' was invented by someone as a satire about arrogant tenors. Has anyone on this NG actually heard Mr. Lane perform? I searched Amazon for a CD of his that he wrote about, and came up with nothing. I also did a Northern Light search of his name and came up with zip.

Not only that, I have an elderly great-aunt who's lived in Boonton, N.J. all her life, and she tells me that she's never heard of any 'Festspielhaus of Boonton.' Of course

Check out the New Life Expo brochure at
http://www.newlifeexpo.com/NycMar2001.pdf

Ken B Lane's talk is mentioned on p. 43, and if that is a picture of him then either he is extremely well preserved or it was taken sometime in the wild '70s. (Come to think of it, with those looks and that kind of voice, he should have tried out for the Bee Gees.)

But my main reason for quoting the address, having come across it, is that the brochure is hugely entertaining and worth a browse: the ads range from the vaguely sensible to the ludicrously off-the-planet.

Did anybody ring Ken on his birthday and sing happy birthday to him?? I *really* wanted to do that, but I just forgot.

Just shows how advertising works

Henry Fogel wrote a review of a release of one of his old recordings. As I recall, Fogel didn't much like it. I still maintain that the 'net would be a very boring place if it weren't for the likes of Jarl Sigurd, Ken B. Lane and Matthew Tepper.

Ken B. Lane, the barber shaves another customer, and sees the banker sitting, waiting for a trim. Then the fireman rushes in from thepouring rain. Very strange.

Ken B. Lane. Life's a holiday on Ken B. Lane.

Thanks for the link, now I know that he is a real person! He seems like a colorful character, too. But does he take himself seriously, or is it all a joke? Boonton doesn't sound like a cultural center to me. -Mike Totally off topic, I'm a huge Mika Hakkinen fan, Jaakko!
