Hi,

Just recently converted my guitar to 2 vol instead of the 1 vol and 1 tone setup.

I did this to make my guitar more like James Hetfield since I just fitted and EMG 60 & 81.

When i had the tone setup, the tone was always up full.

Since changing wiring the sound is always muddy.

Should I change back to 1 vol and 1 tone or could I hard wire a tone setup in as if the tone was cranked up full all the time?

Thankyou,

Have a look at this website for some intriguing information...

Something weird here. Passive guitar tone controls are only capable of reducing the treble, they can't increase it. With your new arrangement (which I also use), with the volume controls full up the pickups are effectively wired straight to the amp.

Some possibilities: - The volume pots are too low resistance, and are loading the pickups. - If the problem only occurs with the volume pots away from 100%, consider a bypass capacitor (quite a common trick). Yell if you need more data.

I could say what a pointless comment. There's a wealth of information on every aspect of EMG...full tecspecs, a downloadable catalogue et al and will provide answers to just about every question on the subject....and is simple to navigate. The poster with the problem has already identified where he went wrong by visiting the site. I'd say it works just fine. Not enough Flash for you?

I don't feel *that* strongly about it . And I don't use (and can avoid) the site, so no worries. I'd rather play my guitar... and indeed I shall.

good point, don't judge a book by its cover.

.. except when the cover in question is matchbox-size and makes the book inconvenient to even open, let alone read .

I think what Steve meant, though, was that information is worthless if it's not communicated properly.
