Hey Ya'll,

No one picked up on my writing about a deceased artist challenge, and truly there are a lot of these songs so maybe we need no more. Instead, in the spirit of focussing on songwriting, and the thread about obscure lyrics, I give you this challenge:

Write a song that incorperates at least two of the following words/phrases, and at least one of those words/phrases in the chorus/hook:

lourd; fungibles; sapodillo; vampires; palfgeys; lallapalooza; prize crew; Survance; at bayonet point; consultancy; Bradford; requins; Lippershey; shinglewood; Greenock; baseman; farfetched; scirenga; lombard; trans; headlines; dinner call; mazedly; retransfers; forksmith; Kurumba; snarl; strivingly; cranium; pandore; Ectoprocta; addebted; Geelvink Bay; get your monkey up; outasking; Marisa; First Lord; syllogism; son; split tin; laugh up; fawnlike; uhllo; blastula; cutaneous; asphalt oil; underselling; lactases; craniognomy; Clathrinidae; septic tank; cut your wisdom teeth; stearrhea; oscines; puffball; bendaying; prosogyrous; romanizes; uxoricide; transferrer; ephestian; poisonings; base piece; galenas; gurneys; make no bones about it; supersuspicion; vide ante; encraal; mild-mooned; biochemists; Bern; Gundry; aphasic; epicarps; chest weight; Issachar; Bouldon; about; hydatopneumatolytic; Neuss; lepid; ergatomorphic; eider; Jaclyn; endorse; collunarium; collective bargaining; frivolously; methoxychlor; -phile; subchloride; total utility; Norco; lodemanage; cautioned; exomologesis; redded; sage hen; expository scene; waltz time

take it as far as you want... no points lost here if you use a different form of a word (i.e. poison instead of poisonings).

if you don't like these words, try out:

Right... well I've made a wee mess of it so far.

I jumped straight into writing a song, without having noted the fact that the (minimum of) two words have to be in the chorus / hook.

I've written the beginnings of a song which have two of the words in the first line of the first verse..... and then I went off on one.

Soooooo I've got a song I'm excited about, and the challenge acted as inspiration, but it's not within the rules. Maybe I could tweak it to fit a couple of words into the chorus.

Anyway, this is where I am so far, remembering that I also write words and music simulateously, so I don't have quite so many lyrics yet:

(Check out the tune so far at Soundclick : www.soundclick.com/davelawrence ).

Take Me To The Land Oh the First Lord of Geelvink Bay Well he set out to find his way To a land he thought lay just across the sea

So he went out and hired a boat Paid enough to be sure it'd stay afloat Then he rounded up his friends and family

He hired a captain and a crew He paid enough to make sure that they knew How to get them there and get them home again

Won't you take me to the land Oh the land where the birds fly Won't you take me to the land Oh the land where love is law

Where no one says you're better off dead Walking round heavy with a heart full of lead Cos in this place it'll keep you in it's hand Won't you take me to the land

There you go. I've got a friend round tomorrow, and should get the thing finished.

Cheers

Dave

if you incorperate a sample from either sponge bob square pants theme song or the popeye theme song, or some good gay sailor choir samples (In the Navy by Village People?) it will be perfect ; )

seriously though, this is great. thanks for participating, if you record it let us hear, ye land lubber!

somehow i missed it. quite nice, keep us posted if you extend it! do you have a bass, if so, what kind? also, is the percussion the stylus groove or do you have bongos?

still could use popeye sample. if you could put the little sound of his pipe tooting that would be cool.

Anyway I have my Line 6 Bass Pod on it's way!

The percussion here is just me banging away on the ol' bongos in the right channel, and clapping a wee bit in the left channel.

I'm also using my more inexpensive mic as it requires less thought to use, so the overall recording quality is only so-so.
